Challenge Baseball:

Jerry Jalielski & Walter Price - Challenge Commissioner (challenge@dyaa.net)

What:

Dilworth fields teams, with adequate interest from players and coaches, that participate in baseball tournaments sponsored by Carolina Challenge Baseball League (not affiliated with Dilworth). These tournaments offer an alternative to travel baseball and provide higher skilled players additional opportunities to play competitive baseball. Dilworth teams play against teams from other leagues, including Myers Park Trinity, Steele Creek, Matthews, Weddington and Olde Providence.

Ages (as of 4/30/12):

7 through 12 year-olds. Tournaments are held for ages 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. 7s and 8s play machine pitch; all others play kid pitch.

When:

Spring tournaments will be held on various weekends in March, April, and May. Dilworth teams will elect to play certain tournaments based on player availability and the league schedule so that Challenge does not conflict with Dilworth baseball. Players will need to be available to play on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. Teams typically play a minimum of four games over each tournament weekend.

Where:

Tournaments are held at various parks around the area.

Cost:

There is additional cost to participate in each Challenge tournament, typically $30 to $45 depending on the number of players. Cost includes tournament fees, insurance and uniforms.

Practices:

Dilworth Challenge teams hold practices throughout the season, typically on Sunday afternoons so they do not conflict with the regular season schedule.
