What:

Dilworth's Challenge program operates independently of Little League and offers additional instruction and playing opportunities for advanced players. Challenge baseball is open to all players participating on a recreational team in the Spring or Fall. Within the program, teams will be organized to play in local tournaments offered by CCBL or Top Gun Baseball. Participation in the Challenge program does not guarantee participation on the TOC or All-Star teams as part of Little League. Evaluations will be held at all age groups on Sunday, February 26. At the 8,9 and 10 year old age groups, tournament teams will be based on coaches discretion during the course of the season. Players not selected for tournament teams may still participate in the Challenge program attending practices for their age group and any Challenge clinics offered by professional coaches. Challenge baseball is not to interfere with the Little League regular season participation. All efforts will be made to avoid conflicts with league practices and games.

Ages:

Teams will be based on Little League age rules. The 8, 9, 10 and 11 age groups will use August 31st as the cut-off date. The 12 age group will continue to use April 30th.

When:

Spring tournaments will be held on various weekends in March, April, and May. Dilworth teams will elect to play certain tournaments based on player availability and the league schedule so that Challenge does not conflict with Dilworth baseball. Players will need to be available to play on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. Teams typically play a minimum of four games over each tournament weekend or two games for a Sunday-only tournament.

Where:

Tournaments are held at various fields around the area.

Cost:

Cost to play challenge is $150 for the U11 and U12 programs due to the outside professional coaches running these programs. The U10-U8 is $50. There is additional cost to participate in each Challenge tournament, typically $30 to $45 per tournament depending on the number of players. The cost includes tournament fees, insurance and uniforms.

Practices:

Dilworth Challenge teams hold practices throughout the season, typically on Sunday afternoons so they do not conflict with the regular season schedule.

Interested:

Coaches at each age level will be reaching out via email prior to the season to gauge interest. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to Will Kincheloe at challenge@dyaa.net.
